Two Reimbursement Levels

The pet insurance program provides health care coverage for your dog, cat, bird, hamster or other exotic pet. As a Parkland employee, you’ll receive a 5% group discount on your policy. If you have multiple pets, you can receive additional discounts.

You can choose from two levels of reimbursement:

: 50%

How Pet Insurance works

Visit any veterinarian.: You can visit any veterinarian, anywhere in the world.
Get reimbursed.: After you meet your $250 deductible, you’ll be reimbursed for eligible expenses related to illnesses and accidents, such as surgeries, hospitalization, X-rays, prescription medications and more.
Take advantage of discounts.: You can also get discounts on pet products and services.
Understand the Avian & Exotic Plan.: The Nationwide Avian & Exotic Pet Plan provides affordable health care for your bird or exotic pet. After you meet a $50-per-incident deductible, the plan will reimburse you for medical treatments and surgeries for accidents, illnesses and diseases, including cancer. You can also elect additional routine care coverage for birds.

Do I need to re-enroll for this benefit every year?

No. Once you are enrolled, your policy will renew automatically every year.

Can I still use my current veterinarian?

Yes. You’re free to take your pet to any licensed veterinarian anywhere in the world — including specialists and emergency providers.

3 Ways To File a Claim

When seeing the veterinarian, you pay out-of-pocket for your pet’s care. Then, submit your claim for reimbursement and track your claim status on your Nationwide Pet Account Access page at my.petinsurance.com. Allow 48 hours from the time you submit your claim for it to appear online.

Sign up during Open Enrollment and take advantage of preferred pricing. You pay for pet insurance with after-tax payroll deductions.

Call Nationwide at 877-738-7874. (You will need to call to enroll your bird, rabbit, reptile or other exotic pet.)
Go to petinsurance.com/affiliates/parklandhospital_pr.

If your application is approved between the 1st and 15th of the month, coverage will be effective the 1st day of the following month. If your application is approved from the 16th through the end of the month, coverage will be effective on the 1st day of the month after the next month. Take a look at these examples:

May 1 approval = June 1 effective date
May 16 approval = July 1 effective date
