Health Pregnancy, Healthy Babies

Whether you are considering having a baby or are already expecting, Cigna Maternity Management nurses can help you have a healthy pregnancy. This benefit is provided at no cost to you and your eligible covered dependents enrolled in the Parkland Employee Health Program (PEHP).

Maternity CARE 11

It Pays To Participate!

If you actively participate in the program during your pregnancy, the PPO will waive deductibles and coinsurance for all routine obstetric office visits related to your prenatal care and the cost of delivering a healthy baby. You must enroll in your first or second trimester to receive the incentive. If you enroll in the HDHP, you must meet the calendar year deductible prior to your delivery to qualify for these incentives.

How It Works

Enroll in the program.

You can self-enroll in maternity management or pre-pregnancy coaching.

Get one-on-one phone calls with a nurse.

The nurse will:

  • Share health tips before you become pregnant and throughout your pregnancy.
  • Call you each trimester and after your baby is born.
  • Provide coaching and support on pregnancy-induced hypertension, premature birth, low birth weight and pregnancy-related stress.
  • Refer you to case management if you need more support.
  • Encourage you to call with any questions or concerns.

Receive free books and brochures.

You will be eligible to receive free books and brochures in the mail about topics like pre-term labor, childbirth, breastfeeding and infant care.

It's completely confidential.

Cigna takes confidentiality very seriously. Cigna won’t share with Parkland any identifiable, personal health information. Parkland receives group information only. Cigna care management programs operate in compliance with all federal and state privacy laws.

Follow the Checklist

Use this checklist to help you prepare and provide you with resources while you’re on maternity leave.

Delivering at Parkland?

  • If you participate in the program, go to the Employee Women’s Wellness Center for routine doctor’s visits during pregnancy and deliver a healthy baby at Parkland, you’ll pay $0 for all services, including anesthesiology and facility charges.
  • If you participate in the program, go to a doctor who is not at the Employee Women’s Wellness Center for routine doctor’s visits during pregnancy and deliver a healthy baby at Parkland, you will pay a $500 flat fee for the birth.

To receive the incentive in the PPO, you don’t have to meet the deductible. If you enroll in the HDHP, you must meet the calendar year deductible prior to your delivery to qualify for these incentives.

To be eligible for these incentives, you must enroll in the Maternity Care Program during your first or second trimester and continue to participate in the program each trimester of your pregnancy.
